S'porean tops skills competition

A SINGAPOREAN was the overall top scorer in an international skills competition for youth held last week in Finland, where Singapore won two gold medals and a bronze.

Ms Viridis Liew, 21, won the gold medal in the Information Technology - PC and Network Support category of the 38th WorldSkills Competition.

The Nanyang Polytechnic IT graduate picked up a special award as the top scorer across all categories, which ranged from cookery to mechatronics.

Another student from the same school, Mr Lo Min Ming, 20, struck gold in the IT - Software Applications category.
